Hi everyone!! So I thought that I would just give you an update on my summer so far and what I have done. As you all know My summer started off taking part in the Miss Teen Canada-World Pageant in Toronto, Ontario, which was AMAZING!! I had the best time of my life. I would like to thank you all for your support! I will definetley be going back to Toronto just because I love it so much!!( You can see pictures of my time in Toronto in the Gallery!) I got home from Toronto on July 28th, and since then being back home has been a little boring haha! The weather here is Saskatoon has not treated us well, especially for summer! That has definetely had an affect on my summer. I am usually outside everyday during the summer, although it has been hard to do that lately :) I have been to Lloydminster,Alberta to visit my Auntie, Uncle and cousins, which was great (I love travelling...even if its only 2 hours of driving haha).
Now, I am getting prepared for University Ahhh!! I am entering my first year at the Univesrity of Saskatchewan where I will be taking Arts and Science Classes in Pre-Med. I am hoping to get into the medical feild, because I think that this would be a great way of helping people, a thing that I LOVE doing. I am getting very anxious, excited and nervous about it though because it is such a huge place and I will probably get lost a few times haha! But it really helps that not only do I have friends going to the same University, but I also have some of my friends in a couple of my classes, i think this will really heelp me haha. So to get ready, I think I have to prepare myself emotionally as well as with school supllies and clothes, because I think that it will be a big change becasue I am not going to be able to see my friends all day, I will have to make new friends, which isn't hard for me, just scary (but exciting) :D Tommorrow I am going shopping with my mom and brother because I need to finish getting my supplies, which really doesn't consist of alot, mostly just paper, pens, pencils, calculator, white out, binders and maybe a few more things haha. (Way less than elementary school. I remember those big long lists I used to get haha). After I get all of my supplies tommorow I am in major need of some new school clothes haha. And then I am good!! My brother also needs these things to lol. (He is going into grade 5!) :) Soo..for the 13 days left of summer that I have, I will hopefully go camping a couple more times as well as go to Lloydminster to! I will definetely keep you updated a couple days before I go to University and let you know how I am liking it!! TTYL!! Bye :D
Wow, Soo Toronot was amazingg!! It was the funnest week of my life! We did so many cool things such as going on Breakfast Television Live, MuchMusic, and MTV Live, toured the city on the Hippo tour bus, walked through the Eaton centre and went to Medeival Times(tournament and dinner), as well as many other fun things. I also met the most amazing girls, who I will never forget and I miss them so much already! It was also very exhausting and stressful at times, because we rehearsed alot and had pretty late nights followed by very early mornings. Though it all paid off as we had a great show and alot of fun memories together :D
The day of the show was very tiring but fun to! The show consisted of our Opening number Dance, evening gown showcasing and Bathing Suit portion as well. At the end, The winner was announced! I unfortunately did not win, although my closest friend Siera Bearchell did, she is from Moose Jaw Saskatchewan and is SUCH a great person who deserved it. Every girl was great!! I am very close to Siera and am proud of her, although I am very proud of myself to, because I have accomplished so muchh already! I am a shy girl and don't come across as someone who would embark on this(to my friends and family), Although this is something that I have wanted to do since I was a little girl. So I went for itt, and mad myself proud, my family, my friends and hopefully Saskatoon!! I hope that you all can look up to me, and I can be a role model! Be yourseld, Beleive in yourself and you CAN do anything!! <3
Thank you everyone for your support, because without it, I would not have gotten this far. So Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! <3
P.S) I am still Miss Teen Saskatoon-Wotld 2009, and I will continue to make Saskatoon proud and I will do more events and fundraising for the rest of the year. Keep checkingg to see what the next event is!!! Thanks again! Love u all!! :D

Claresholm, Alberta
Claresholm is a great place to live, and it prides itself on the friendliness of it residents, its retail services and industrial facilities. It is a thriving community of over 3,700 people. Claresholm’s traditional roles of agricultural service centre and industrial airport have been diversified in the last few years by the growth of the health care sector of the economy. It offers excellent recreation with an 18-hole golf course, swimming pool, curling and skating rinks, water sprayparks, expanded campground and an active agriplex . .
The Town of Claresholm is located in the Municipal District of Willow Creek #26, midway between Calgary and Lethbridge on Highway 2. It is 104 km south of Calgary and 90 km northwest of Lethbridge. Claresholm rests on the fringe of the most spectacular part of Alberta's foothills, providing easy access to an endless number of mountain vistas and recreational opportunities.
|
Claresholm began as a railway siding. In the 1880's the lush grasslands had drawn ranchers to the foothills to the West. Their herds of cattle roamed across the prairie as far East as the Little Bow River. With the construction of the rail line from Calgary to Macleod, ranchers were able to ship their cattle from Claresholm to markets elsewhere. The railway could also bring people here, and the siding would provide the nucleus for the town. In response to an extensive advertising campaign by the government of Canada and the Canadian Pacific Railway, settlers began to flood into this area. Hundreds of families came here from the Northern United States, for example, North Dakota, Minnesota, Oregon and also from Eastern Canada. They came for the free homestead land, and for the opportunity to have a better life for themselves and their families. Businesses flourished, providing the services needed in the area. Claresholm grew rapidly, and was granted town status on August 31, 1905. Second World War Following the outbreak of World War II, Canada and Great Britain entered into a partnership to train pilots for the air force - the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. A site about 3.5 miles from Claresholm was chosen for an advanced training school, and construction of No. 15 Service Training Flying School began in late October 1940 and continued through the winter. Operations started on June 9, 1941, with a class of about forty young Canadian men arriving to continue their training. Advanced flying was taught using the twin-engine Avro-Anson and the Cessna Crane. No. 15 Service Training Flying School officially opened on August 16, 1941 with an open house and the first graduation. The subsequent courses of student pilots included young men from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. By the time No. 15 S.F.T.S. closed in 1945, about 1800 pilots had "received their wings" here. |

Leisure & Recreation
THE BRIDGES GOLF CLUB CLARESHOLM INDOOR SWIMMING POOL Several recreational sites are located outside of the town limits. These offer outdoor activities and many more recreational opportunities. Be sure to visit ... and bring a picnic lunch!
This 18-hole golf course is a gem! The original nine holes in Claresholm were opened in 1978, and the new nine opened in June 2005. The back nine is a Les Furber design, with water is in play in 12 of 18 holes. Be sure to check out this on your way through Claresholm.
This wonderful facility features a 5-lane, 25 metre pool, graduated entry (handicap accessible), 30-person hot tub, diving board, Tarzan rope, and many toys! The pool is located at the south entry of the Claresholm Centre for Mental Health & Addictions. Call 625-2172 for swim times.

Three tennis courts are located at the Willow Creek Composite High School. These courts were refinished in 1999.
CURLING RINK
The four sheet curling rink was built and is maintained by volunteers of the Claresholm Curling Club. Leagues run November to April.

A new skateboard park was built in the summer of 2003. The park is home to local skaters as well as available to those visiting. The skateboard park is located at the Claresholm skating rink.

WILLOW CREEK PROVINCIAL PARK
The rolling grasslands and tree-lined creek provide quiet camping and picnicking spots on the edge of the Porcupine Hills. Experience the beauty of the foothills and flavor of ranching country. The area is rich in aboriginal history, and there is evidence of a teepee ring in the park.
PINE COULEE
The Pine Coulee Project was constructed beginning in 1996 and completed in 1999. This project, built north west of Claresholm, was initiated in response to recurring shortages of water supply due to the variable water flow in Willow Creek. The project will provide a reliable water supply for the 4500 residents of the Willow Creek Basin, including the towns of Claresholm and Granum. It will also secure a water source for irrigated land and allow an expansion of the irrigated areas already served. The project will enhance fish and wildlife habitat, as well as create additional water-based recreational opportunities near the existing facilities at Willow Creek Provincial Park.
CLEAR LAKE
A great little man-made lake to visit just east of town! This location offers camping, a playground, and small hall which is great for family reunions or small gatherings. The lake is a great spot for boating, waterskiing or jet-skiing. Call the Municipal District of Willow Creek Office to inquire about booking the hall or camping area for group functions.
CHAIN LAKES PROVINCIAL PARK
Campsites at this provincial park are all located within willow trees. There are 2 community fire pits in the campground and 2 camp shelters. The lake is quite long and narrow at the base of the valley. Water skiing is not allowed however tubing is. Chain Lakes is mostly utilized by fishermen enjoying the great fishing.
I have lived in the beautiful town of Claresholm, Alberta all my life and love this small town with all my
heart. With the rocky mountains to the west of me and endless wheat fields to the east, Claresholm truly is a gorgeous place to call home. Thanks for reading about my home and make sure to to make Claresholm, Alberta your next travel destination or maybe someday even call it home! -Taylor Stronski-Miss Teen Claresholm-World
Hi everyone,
This is my third blog assignment, and it is very important. We were asked to post a picture from Free the Children, and write about it. Please read this and consider everything, as it is the Miss Teen Canada-World's organization and it is a very important topic that everyone should be educated about. As Miss Teen Canada-World, I will be trying to make the world a better place, this can be started by educating people about problems within our world, and I will be proud to. This does not mean that I am the only person who should do this, I encourage everyone possible to learn about these things and to take a step and do the right thing.

This photo above is Showing a little boy holding a pencil. This boy is proud of his pencil and realizes that he can now write and communicate with it, although he now needs an education to learn how. This is the main focus of this photo, because it shows how proud and happy he is that he now hs a pencil, which he hasn't had before, and he now has the ability to start an education, with the help of others.
This picture is touching because everyday we take for granted our education ad think that we know it all and that school is not fun, and we can fool around, although this is not the case. We should ALL be aware that there are people in other countries who are striving for education and need it to live. Showing how these kids are overcome with joy that they now have another chance at life.
We think sometimes that we don't have everything that we need, asking for more. Though when you look at these children they are overwhelmed at what they now have. We have an incredibly huge amount more than they do, showing that we really need to be aware and help those out there that dont have even the neccesities to live a normal life, where in other place we think that we just dont have enough. The most important thing is having the survivals needs to live. These children and adults do not even have this.
Please take all of this to heart, as it is a very touching, and educational topic for everyone, and is very important to me. By even reading this and considering it, you can realize how good we have it and how much we need to help those who dont. Thank you :D
Visit http://www.freethechildren.com/ to learn more about this organization and what is going on in the world.
We are the next generation and it is our job to stand up and make a difference. By even donating some money, or educating other people about this will be the start to making a change in the world. As Michelle Leas, Miss Teen Saskatoon-World, in hopes of becoming your Miss Teen Canada-World, I promote this message to you all and hope you care about it as much as I do. Thank you :D

There are also many tasty restaurants in Saskatoon, that you need to try, some of them consist of:
1) Alexanders Restaurant and Bar: This is personally one of my Favorite Restaurants, with great music, welcoming service and best of all Great food, They are located at 414 Cumberland Avenue North, which is also right across from The University of Saskatchewan.

2) Earls Restaurant and Lounge: Another one of my Favorite paces to dine. Great Interior design, food, service and music. You have to try Earls, located at 210 2nd Avenue North. "Earls...a place where it's easy...a place to connect and have fun...a place to nourish your body and soul...very simply...a place where life is better. Check us out!"

3) Saskatoon Station Place: Located at 221 Idylwyld North, this is a wonderful and exciting restaurant that is a main attraction when you come to Saskatoon. This historically designed and welcoming restaurant is a place you cannot pass by. They specialize in the area of Prime rib and Steak. They are truly a hit within the City of Saskatoon.
University of Saskatchewan
The University of Saskathewan is known as one of the best and most beautiful Universities in all of North America. Arts and Science is one of the most popular departments at the University and is in fact the place that I, Miss Teen Saskatoon-World 2009 will be taking her classes this fall starting September 2nd. "The University of Saskatchewan belongs to the people of Saskatchewan. As an academic community, our mission is to achieve excellence in the scholarly activities of teaching, discovering, preserving and applying knowledge". This is a huge University that offers many departments and areas of study, giving the students a great education and memories to look back on.

Shopping
Saskatoon isn't usually the reason why people come here for, though we do have a couple pretty good malls, which include some great stores. The two main malls here is Saskatoon are:
1) Midtown Plaza: This is the biggest mall that we have in Saskatoon, and is the mall that many of the people living in saskatoon go to to shop. It has been around for a while and has a great old unique look to it. You cannot miss it, as it pretty big and it is located downtown where it is one of the main attractions down in that area. Midtown Plaza also branches off two other store chains, The Bay and Sears.

2) Mall at Lawson Heights: This is another mall, that has many good stores as well. it is located by many schools, which makes it a great palce for students to go have lunch on there break from school. It is also a nice environment and is clean, fairly big and a good place to come and hang out with your friends and shop around.

These are some awsome attractions and place to see around the Beautiful City of Saskatoon, to see more of how Saskatoon is Amazing, you should come and visit. So make it your next destination. It will definetly be a place that you will never forget. For more information message me. Michelle Leas, Miss Teen Saskatoon-World 2009 at michelle_leas03@hotmail.com.
